The current campaign is two fold with one central theme: Help stop Irvine’s land grab by supporting our initiative.
Objectives:
Create public awareness that the El Toro option still remains open.
Points: 1. Pending
litigation against Measure W means the Navy cannot take immediate action
in selling former MCAS El Toro property. 2. We have a window of opportunity
to place the Reasonable Airport, Park & Nature Preserve Initiative
on November 2002 ballot.
Distribution: Mail, insert and distribute
campaign mailers throughout the Newport coastal areas most effected by
JWA. First printing is 5,000. Goal:
Raise interest and funds for the Initiative campaign.
Print advertising: The current display
ad’s first run will be in the Daily Pilot on 5/9/02 and 5/11/02,
reaching over 56,000 residents in Costa Mesa, Santa Ana Heights, Newport
Beach and Newport Coast on both run dates. Goal:
Raise interest and funds for the Initiative campaign and target the Board
of Supervisors to place the Initiative on the ballot.
Here’s how you can help: email or call our pro-airport Supervisors asking them to: “Please give the voters of Orange County the opportunity to vote between a reasonable airport at El Toro and Irvine’s “land grab” by placing the Reasonable Airport, Park & Nature Preserve Initiative on the November 2002 ballot.”
The Board of Supervisors have until August 2002 to place the Initiative on the ballot.
